With the 2024-25 academic year approaching, it’s time to submit an IU Tuition Benefit application if you, your spouse, or your eligible children plan on taking IU courses. Previous semester/term applications do not carry over, but the online application process is quick and easy. Simply search for ‘Tuition Benefit’ in One.IU or follow the link below for direct access to the online application.
Apply for the IU Tuition Benefit
Important reminders
- New students must be registered for classes before submitting the online application.
- A separate application must be submitted for each campus of enrollment.
- Eligibility is reviewed monthly. If you or your dependent no longer meets the eligibility requirements, it may result in the termination or reversal of the benefit.
- For IU High School courses, you must complete a separate IUHS Tuition Waiver Application before the student registers for classes. For questions, contact iuhs@indiana.edu or 812-855-2292.
Enrollment and deadlines
A new application must be submitted each academic year. If you anticipate needing the benefit, we recommend applying for the entire academic year at one time, so you don’t forget or miss the deadline.
Once an application has been submitted, a confirmation will be sent to your IU email address. Review the confirmation to ensure you applied for the correct campus, degree program, and semesters/terms.
If you’re unsure if you’ve already applied for the benefit, or if you need to make changes to your application, contact askhr@iu.edu prior to the application deadline. After the tuition charges have been posted to the student’s bursar account, you can also check the account for the Tuition Benefit subsidy.
If the application is processed after the student has been billed, the student is responsible for paying their full tuition bill. Once the application is processed, they will receive a refund through the bursar. No tuition benefit will be applied for applications received after the semester/term deadlines: the fall deadline is October 30; winter is January 30; spring is March 30; and summer is July 30.
