Faced with challenges in teaching remotely over the past year, many IUB instructors developed innovative teaching approaches to keep their students engaged. The question of the summer seems to be what of those new approaches will continue to help students when we return to on-campus classes this fall. I’ve been talking with several of our faculty members about this, and I am happy to share those conversations with you in a new video series: “What Will You Keep this Fall?” Once a week, I will post a short video—usually around 5-10 minutes—of what your colleagues will be making part of their regular teaching toolboxes.
Let’s kick off this series with a conversation with Dr. Meghan Porter from the Department of Chemistry, who is sharing about how she uses icebreakers to promote community in her classes.
If you have something to share—or know of a colleague who does—let me know, and we will set up an interview. To see all our “What Will You Keep”? videos, look for the WWYK tag in our blog.
