This summer I worked in the Hurley Lab at IU with Laura Hurley and PhD student Sierra McAlister. Over the summer, I learned how to handle mice and care for them. Our specific strain of mice is prone to seizures, so there are certain procedures that must be put in place to limit the probability of seizures. In the past, I have worked with prairie voles with Allison Perkeybile in the Vole lab, so it was interesting to compare the differences of working with voles versus working with mice. This summer in the Hurley Lab, we started to do behavior testing on the mice for the project that is outlined in the poster. We did not finish conducting the behavior tests, so we do not have any data or results currently. However, I plan to continue to work in the Hurley Lab throughout the academic school year and continue with this project.
