Principal Investigator
Dr. Tankam received a bachelor in Mathematics in 2004 (University of Yaounde I, Cameroon). He received his M.S. degree in Optical Engineering in 2007; and a Ph.D. in Optical Sciences in 2010 (University of Le Mans, France) developing multi-wavelength digital holography for optical metrology. Dr. Tankam was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institut d’Optique Rhone-Alpes, France, from 2011 to 2012, where he contributed to the optical design and characterization of diffractive intra-corneal lens for presbyopia correction. He joined the Institute of Optics and Center for Visual Science (University of Rochester) in September 2012 as Research Associate to develop high-resolution Optical Coherence Tomography for biomedical applications. Dr. Tankam worked as a Senior Optical Scientist at Corning Incorporated from December 2016 to July 2017 to enable advanced innovations in metrology of display technologies, before joining the faculty at Indiana University School of Optometry in August 2017. Dr. Tankam is an active member of the Optical Society of America and The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He is a reviewer for numerous journals including Optics Letters, Optics Express, Applied Optics, Applied Sciences, Biomedical Optics Express, Nature Scientific Reports, Journal of Modern Optics, etc.

Reddikumar Maddipatla, Ph.D.
Research Associate (2018 – 2022)
Currently a Research Scientist at UC. Davis
Reddikumar was a Research Associate at the FOIB’s lab at Indiana University School of Optometry from 2018 – 2022 where he worked on the development of a multimodality imaging system integrating optical coherence microscopy and dual-channel confocal fluorescence microscopy for in vivo imaging of transgenic mice. Prior to IU, he received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Industrial Chemistry in 2007 from Sri Krishnadevaraya University, India. He also received an MSc in Physics in 2010 from the University of Hyderabad, India, and a Ph.D. degree in Optical Science in 2015 at the Birla Institute of Technology-Mesra, India, working on the development of swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) for biomedical imaging. During his Ph.D. period, he also did a three-month internship with Dr. Barry Cence at the Center for Optical Research and Education at Utsunomiya University, Japan, working on the development of a low-cost adaptive optics-based spectral-domain optical coherence tomography for imaging the human eye. He then completed a second Ph.D. in 2018 at the same institution on developing approaches to improve the collection efficiency of optical coherence tomography in retinal imaging. His research interests include optical coherence tomography, adaptive optics systems, fluorescence microscopy, biomedical optics, and optical imaging techniques.
