Being in the sustainability internship at the Center for a Sustainable Future has
provided me an outlet to build relationships that will influence my life forever. Getting to know Dr. Mike Keen and Krista Bailey, as well as other sustainability students, has really helped strengthen and blossom the sustainable foundation that I stand on. In the readings assigned for my internship, I have found that it is not your background or social class that sculpts what type of influence you have on the world, it is the desires and dreams you act on and the people who believe in you that drives us to be who we are.
So many times have I felt overwhelmed and unable to do certain projects but after
sitting down with Mike and/or Krista I have that gusto back in me. They give their encouragement, advice, and wisdom then let me do with it what I may.
From this I can see how being a person with a dream and no support
network can be very difficult to follow through with, and I think that all of
us can agree. Having that support network as well as having the knowledge provided from the studies I have been immersed into, I can confidently say that I am ready for the next step in life. With the encouragement and guidance from this
small network I know I will graduate from IU South Bend and move on to a
graduate school in a sustainably program best suited for me. I am lucky and blessed to have become involved with these people and this department.
