Congratulations to Danielle Pacholski, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Danielle is completing her degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Psychology. Reflecting on her time at IU, she has taken every opportunity to involve herself with the IU community in order to give back to a place that gave her so much. These opportunities included being a part of Alpha Delta Pi, IU Dance Marathon, an Orientation Leader for the Office of First Year Experience Programs and a facilitator for the “It’s on US” Program.
Throughout her multiple roles of involvement, she will forever cherish the legacy she has left behind. When reflecting back on a few people who supported her while at IU she said, “Thank you to my parents, Dr. Gershkoff, and my friends Anna and Jacqueline for supporting me over my time at IU. They constantly believed in me, helped me, and allowed me to grow into who I am today both as a person and a student. Congratulations to Christina Marte, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Christina is earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in International Studies and minors in Spanish and Counseling. In the past three years, she has had the privilege of working at the Banneker Community center and making an impact in this space. Christina had the opportunity to make connections and be a role model to children that have behavioral issues. Along with her involvement in the community, she served as President for Ritmos Latinos and studied abroad in the Dominican Republic.
Reflecting back on her IU journey, Christina said, “I truly cannot imagine making it through without the constant support of my family, friends, and mentors. I would like to specifically thank my family for being there for me through my ups and downs, supporting my decisions in my academic and professional paths, and giving me a sense of stability when life sometimes felt anything but stable. I love you all so much and I wouldn’t have made it to where I am without your support. To my mom, thank you for always being my confidant, for giving me the confidence and courage to try my best at anything I set my mind to, and for always being my cheerleader in my less than typical career path. I would also specifically like to thank my harp teacher/mentor Ela Szmyt who has been supporting me both musically and personally since I was 12. Throughout the years, she has helped me grow into the person I am today, both in and outside of the music world. Thank you, Ela for pushing me beyond what I thought I could accomplish musically, and for never taking me doubting myself as an excuse to let me stop. I cannot express how much you mean to me.
Lastly, to all my professors, bosses, and classmates who took the time to help me in my four years here, thank you. You have not gone unremembered.”
Oliver Benjamin Hobson, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Oliver Hobson, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Oliver is earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from the College of Arts and Science with a minor in Biomedical Anthropology. Academically, he has been involved as a Research Assistant in the Primate Environmental Endocrinology Lab and the IU School of Optometry. He was a Head Medical Trip Leader for IU Outdoor Adventures, a curator for TedxIndiana, and a member of the Board of Aeons. Throughout his various roles in the past four years of being an IU student, he is proud of the amount of personal growth he has undergone through his many different leadership and research opportunities.
Oliver wanted to personally acknowledge his support system both the Hobson and IU family. In this acknowledgement, he said, “I want to first and foremost thank family. The Hobson Clan is a tight bunch of wonderful people who unconditionally love each other and make each other better people than we were before. I also want to thank my advisors and

Miranda Gluth, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Miranda Gluth, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Miranda is earning a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science and a minor in Business. Miranda’s passion and advocacy for the sorority experience for college women can be seen throughout her various leadership roles. In her role as President for the Panhellenic Association, she created a new leadership position within the Panhellenic Council, the Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion and was able to lobby in Washington DC on behalf of her organization. She has also been a part of the State Delegate for the Indiana Democratic Party and a Schaffer intern for Student Life as well as a marketing assistant for Recreational Sports.
Throughout her time at IU, she’s most proud of her Panhellenic Presidency and how that experience has made her into a better woman. Miranda found her community in the Sorority and Fraternity Life Office, she offered this thank you, “A big thank you to everyone at the Sorority & Fraternity Life Office and Student Affairs. Lauren Ehrmann, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Lauren Ehrmann, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Lauren is earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures with a focus in Arabic with a minor in Spanish both housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. Following her academicinterests, she has worked to increase engagement with Middle Eastern and North African diaspora audiences during her internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art last summer. On campus, Lauren is involved in the as the Vice Chair for the Collins Living Learning Center Arts Council and serves as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She also served as a Presidential Research Intern for the Office of the President. In addition to her on-campus involvement, Lauren studied abroad in Florence, Italy where she served as a Diversity Advocate for CAPA Global Education Network and Meknes, Morocco where she was in the Arabic Flagship Program.
When asked to share a few acknowledgements for those who helped support her during her journey at IU, Lauren said, “I would like to thank all my professors, especially Dr. Graves and Dr. Irmscher, for supporting me and helping me to develop both intellectually and personally. Caroline Duchette, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Caroline Duchette, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Caroline is earning a Bachelor of Arts with a major in International Studies and Portuguese both housed in the College of Arts and Science. Throughout her time at IU, Caroline has had the ability to go outside of her comfort zone and be able to accomplish the things she set her mind to. Among these include leading twice weekly English tutoring sessions on campus, completing two research theses, and observing negotiations on the Paris Agreement at the UN 25th Conference of Parties. She has been a part of various campus involvement offices; ranging from being a part of the Student Life Team in the Office of International Services and a Member of the Sexual Health Advocacy Group. Following graduation, Caroline will continue stepping out of her comfort zone working as a community health educator with the Peace Corps in Cameroon.
Caroline feels fortunate to have a number of amazing mentors during her time here at IU, she went on to say “All my mentors helped me become the leader and person that I am today. I am thankful for Katie Goodroad, Mai-Lin Poon, and everyone on the OIS staff for welcoming me into a community that hasshifted my mindset and shaped my goals. Lilly Donahue, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Lilly Donahue, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Lily is earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs in Law and Public Policy along with a minor in Intelligence Studies. Lily has held multiple leadership roles in the various organizations she was involved with at IU She was an undergraduate assistant for the IU Center for the Study of the Middle East, the Vice President of the Board of Aeons, the President and founder of Women in Government at IU and member of the IU Model Arab League. In addition to her campus involvement, one of her biggest accomplishments is interning in the FBI; with a specialization in the Counterterrorism Division.
When thinking about the many mentors and supporters Lilly would like to acknowledge she said, “I’d like to thank my family, who encouraged me to attend IU and have been my biggest supporters throughout my time here. I’d also like to thank Professor Paul Helmke for teaching me the importance of leadership and public service through the Civic Leaders Living Learning Center. I’m forever grateful for the 97th and 98th Board of Aeons for giving me the chance to serve the university and grow in my appreciation for this great institution. Finally, I’d like to thank God for the blessings and life-changing opportunities He has given me during my years at Indiana University.”
Caroline Crouch, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Caroline Crouch, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Caroline is completing her degree in Liberal Studies from the College of Arts and Sciences with a minor in Educational Policy and Sociology from the School of Education. For the past two years, she has mentored and co-directed Helping Offenders Prosper through Employment; HOPE for short. It’s an organization which pairs undergraduate mentors with students in juvenile correctional facilities to help support them in their efforts to avoid recidivism.
Through her involvement in this program, she has learned to advocate for disadvantaged youth along with teaching them to advocate for themselves. Caroline is also involved in the IU Cox Scholar program as a Peer Coach and IU2U as a Student Leader. When looking back at her journey over the last four years, Caroline said, “I am grateful for the encouragement and support over the last few years. I know in my heart that I would not be who I am today without my many influences. You have all inspired me.”Courtland Crenshaw, Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Courtland Crenshaw, one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Courtland is earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Spanish. His dedication to making a lasting impact in the culture and community at IU can be seen throughout his wide range of campus involvement. He is President for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated and the Treasurer for the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Outside of his campus involvement, he interned for Eli Lilly and Company and serves as a caregiver for Comfort Keepers of Bloomington.
Courtland is proud to have made a lasting impact on the IU and surrounding community. When sharing his excitement for receiving this award, Courtland said: “I am highly appreciative of this award and thank all my friends and family that supported me throughout my undergraduate career to be able to accept this high honor.”
Johnnie Allen Jr., Kate Hevner Mueller Award (2020 Senior Awards)
Congratulations to Johnnie Allen Jr., one of the 2020 Mueller Award recipients. Johnnie is earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and Community Health from the School of Public Health with a minor in Gerontology. Johnnie is a first-generation college student and has reached many milestones and achievements by serving the IU and Bloomington community, by impacting students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. One of his most valued and cherished accomplishments is working in the Neal Marshall Black Culture Center as a Student Office Intern to implement programming. Some of the programs he worked with include “Black Hair Politics” and “Black and Blue” which focused on the experience of black police officers. He also served as a Neal Marshall Freshman Leadership Academy facilitator, a Resident Assistant, and served as an Orientation Team Leader for the Office of First Year Experience Programs in 2017. He was President of the Epsilon Iota Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and served as co-president of the Groups Scholars Program. Johnnie will continue being a Hoosier in the Fall as a graduate student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs program.
When asked to reflect on his vast support system, Johnnie said, “Thank you to my support system, all of this is possible because of them and God. My Parents Tasha Cassell and Johnnie Allen Sr., my siblings Jasmine Cassell, and Ja’Quane Cassell, my Godmother Susan Law, my fraternity brothers, my family, my friends, the Groups Scholars Program, the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, and my hometown community Elkhart, IN for playing a significant role in my undergraduate experience. The phrase “It takes a village to raise a child” has proven to be true in my life, my village is large and I am forever grateful for their love, genuineness, and constant encouragement!”
