The Susan Butler Award was created in memory of Susan Butler, the mother of Margaret Butler Snow, a supporter of Indiana University during the Great Depression. This $2,500 award is given to a female graduating senior for outstanding scholarship and character.
For 2023, we are proud to recognize Madison Butler as the 2022 Susan Butler Award recipient for her impactful leadership and involvement at IU.

Acknowledgments
When reflecting on those that have impacted her most during her time at IU, Madison said:
Words fall short of expressing my gratitude for the unconditional love and support of my family, including my parents, Tracy and Chris, and my brother Jack. I’m also profoundly grateful for the guidance of her IU mentors – specifically Shruti Rana, Alison Miron, and Christoph Irmscher – for helping me find a home in the Hamilton Lugar School, IU Student Government, and the Wells Scholars program, along with their professional and personal investment in my growth and success.
