The start of this trip was absolutely horrendous. After a really rough travel experience, I was beginning to lose hope that things would get better. My flight to Greece was changed at the last minute due to a delay, and my luggage was lost for six days upon arrival. It was like I was cursed with a continuous stream of bad luck. However, as soon as I arrived on Paros, it was like my luck completely changed. The people here are so lovely and interested in the work that we’re doing. The town is more beautiful than the pictures do justice. It’s hard to believe that this is my life right now. Little me would never have conceived that I would be studying abroad in Greece.
This trip has just barely started, and I can already tell that I will never forget it. The people on this trip are so friendly. We’ve already planned a few outings for when we’re back in Indy. The memories that we’ve made here and that we are continuing to make here will last a lifetime. I wouldn’t want to spend this trip with any other group of people. We’ve even made friends with some of the locals here. One of the restaurant owners liked us so much that he even wanted to take a picture with some of us when we went out for Taylor’s birthday. It’s mindboggling that I will be walking to class and someone will just stop me to talk, whether they know me or not. Everyone is so friendly here. It is so refreshing and helps with the homesickness.
As far as school goes, I’ve never been more excited to get up and go to class. We’re doing exciting things every day. We filmed a local potter for our documentary yesterday. He had the most amazing workshop and a three-legged cat! We’re going in a cave tomorrow, which I am stoked about. All of our teams work well together and are enjoying our projects. I can’t wait to see how all of our documentaries turn out. That is probably what I’m looking forward to the most. Well, that and the food of course!
