There is only one week left for us in Paros. It was a little over two weeks ago that I stepped foot on the plane from Louisville to begin this journey, but It feels like it was yesterday. With each passing day I am feeling more and more at home here in the Aegean.
It was not a perfect transition, however, as I had to gradually adapt to changes in sleep and diet. The first week on the island I didn’t sleep much, averaging about four to five hours of sleep a night. I also had to adjust to missing a hot breakfast each morning. It eventually got to the point that I just went to the market and bought some eggs, bacon, and bread for toast.
As for the program, things are starting to come to a close. With each day, our projects have progressed steadily and are starting to look like videos. It is a humbling experience to see the progression from rough cuts to something that resembles a finished product. However, we are nowhere near completion. But with four days of intense work we should be able to produce a quality product we can all be proud of.
By the time all is said and done I know I will look back fondly on these days here on Paros. As I become more immersed in the Greek culture I feel less desire to return to life back in the States.
