Instructions from Ken Baierl for the hearings:
The 2017-18 budget process has been moved up this year to allow for a more deliberative and informative discussion. Likewise, we are using a new template that links budget proposals to the IU South Bend strategic plan and allows for a concise explanation of the budget requests.
Budget proposals have been submitted to the Office of Administration and Finance and the Academic Senate Budget Committee for review. The next step in the process is the presentation of the budget proposals to the Academic Senate Budget Committee on January 30 and 31. The schedule is below.
The Chancellor’s Office will provide copies of the templates for the Chancellor’s Cabinet and committee members. Any other material must be provided by the presenter (25 copies). However, for the sake of time and consistency, it is strongly encouraged that presenters use the templates and avoid other documents. Presenters can use PowerPoint presentations to show other information to the room if needed.
Each presenter has 20 minutes to report on their budget request and ten minutes for questions. Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance Phil Iapalucci will chair the budget hearings. The hearings are open to the campus.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
