When it comes to the question that was being asked at the end of this essay, I thought that they were talking about how time is an important factor and is different in everyone’s lives. I also thought about how in some cultures and ethnicity’s that they value the time they have during the day. It is something that they use wisely. Black men are looked at differently by state and government staff and the judicial system. It is very unfair. Ava DuVernay talks about s Netflix series that they are trying to use when it comes to the group known as the Central Park Five, the five Black and Afro-Latinx males were in court admitting that they has sexually assaulted a woman, a White woman. When they were sentenced their perception of time had changed drastically. One of the quotes the question was wanting us to reflect on that really stood out to me was “behind the times”, when I hear this I automatically think about how when they have served their time how they will be able to possibly put it behind them and leave it behind those bars of the jail cells they were in. All the bad that they had done could have a place to stay and hopefully they would come out as new men. Even if others don’t see them that way, maybe them doing the time for the crime will change them for the good and better of the world. People most of the time say things like, “the past is in the past” or “the past is behind us now, now we need to be in the present”. I feel it is something that is going to continued to be said until humankind no longer exist or we stop using time for any and everything.

The Central Park Five were kids (like 14-16 year olds) falsely accused and bullied into false confessions. They were exonerated. I just want it to be clear to all that they did not commit the crimes they were convicted of. (read more: https://www.history.com/topics/1980s/central-park-five)
Hi! One thing that stood out to me at the end of your blog was that people always we should live in the present. My issue with that is we should live in the present, the the past crimes that people have committed will hold a person back from housing, jobs, and future relationships. The past will haunt you.
