We asked our student ambassadors what they like most about living and going to school in Indianapolis.

What’s the best part about living in Indy? Hands down the coffee scene. Need a place to study? First date? Need some pep before class? As a student, you have easy access to the best coffee shops in the city! Here is a great guide: https://indianapoliscoffeeguide.com

I wanted to talk about one of the perks of attending IUPUI, which is the location. Over the past few years I have used my Crimson Card to get a membership at Newfields! Newfields is only a 10-minute drive from campus. This art museum and gardens are beautiful and the perfect place to relax after class.
Often during finals weeks, my friends and I would wonder around the exhibits to de-stress. The exhibits change frequently and have something for everyone! The museum also has events such as the art festival. This is a great way to connect to the local Indy community. There is also a cafe in the building, which can be a great spot for studying.

I grew up in a small town in Southeastern Wisconsin but moved to the biggest city in the state of Indiana a couple of years ago to begin my college career. The sheer size of the city is intimidating in and of itself, but to make matters worse I did not know a single person down here.
It did not take more than a couple weeks for me to fall in love with the Circle City for the same reason that I was intimidated by it – the sheer size. There are SO many things to do: from the Broad Ripple Farmers Market on Saturday mornings to an Indy Fuel game and to a concert at Old National Centre to coffee at Quills Coffee! Not to mention the countless opportunities to network and gain experience in any career you are pursuing right in the backyard of IUPUI. What’s YOUR favorite place in the Indy area?
