Student success
Students in all 3 cohorts have spent the fall semester working hard and gaining skills necessary to progress as an OT students.
Class of 2027: We welcomed the class of 2027 with a Rose ceremony at the beginning of the semester! Since then, they have been deeply involved with Interprofessional Education(IPE), working with the Physical Therapy biomechanics students to complete a project which focuses on analyzing a movement and what is necessary to perform that movement, as well as playing ‘patients’ for each other. They have been building research skills through Evidence-Based Practice course, diving into a specific topic and presenting on the information found at the end of the semester. The cohort has been leading groups and handling difficult topics all while learning why theory is important foundational knowledge for OTs. They just completed their first fieldwork simulation, after they finalized transfer training and documentation during Fundamentals. It is exciting to watch them learn what OT is and apply the information learned in all of their courses!
Class of 2026: The 2nd years have spent this semester involved in IPE during their neuroscience course, paired with the PT class of 2026, neuro is a challenging course but it builds a foundation for understanding how the nervous system guides the body. They spent time with Dr. Lee developing adaptive toys for children and 3D printed projects. They developed presentations for community partners and presented to representatives from those places. They have been doing a great job with their leadership roles in the Student Outreach Clinic and The Student OT Association.
Class of 2025: The 3rd years have been doing a great job out on their Fieldwork Level II placements – they have been able to apply what they have learned in the classroom in the clinical setting. Prior to heading out on Level II’s, they completed an intensive 6 weeks of classes including electives and leadership. It is exciting to see how hard they are working! We look forward to having them back on campus in the spring!
