Cazembe Day is from Los Angeles, California. He obtained a degree in Architecture from Ball State University and practiced for several years. Feeling he could be a greater benefit to his community, he transitioned to a career in social work from family case manager to program director. After careful examination, of his next step he decided to pursue the Executive MSHM program to increase his business management and healthcare acumen.
Speaking of his experience in the program, Cazembe shared that “Engaging with many like-minded healthcare professionals, particularly the Indiana Healthcare Executives Network (IHEN), has been extremely rewarding and valuable in advancing my career. I currently work at Eskenazi Health as a community engagement executive. ”
He appreciated the high level of support from the program. “Director Grudi and staff have been extremely helpful. They were adept at understanding my areas of educational need and sharpening areas of expertise. My cohort quickly established a comfortable relationship with each other socially and professionally, while also providing support and encouragement to each other.”
He also highlighted his favorite course of the program which was the Vietnam summer trip. “Meeting healthcare professionals from the WHO, Ministry of Health, and the Hue University of Medicine, were life-changing moments. Understanding how the Vietnamese government guides and assists in addressing the healthcare needs of its population was an eye-opening experience.
To future MSHM students, his advice is to “focus on the future of healthcare, and how current educational practices are guiding you to future success. It’s an ever-evolving field of practice, be adaptable, flexible, and always grasp the overarching goal.” We are very happy to have you in our program!
