Q: How would you describe your MSHM journey?
A: I graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in May 2020. I majored in Human Development and Family Studies with minors in Youth Development and Spanish. After my graduation, I started working as a preschool coordinator and eventually transitioned into the MSHM program.
Q: What did you learn from the MSHM program?
A: The MSHM program has provided me with various new skills. As previously mentioned, I have had several years of experience working with children. The transition to the MSHM program was not easy but I was able to adapt quickly. I have learned project management skills through Franklin Covey and these skills have been essential in my current role as a project management fellow with Clinica San Felipe. The MSHM program has provided several opportunities to enhance my communication and writing skills. I have used these skills multiple times creating presentations and documents for my practicum site.
My first project at my practicum site was a marketing project. I helped my preceptor organize the advertising campaign for the opening of a new clinic in Kansas City, Kansas. I took the initiative of reaching out to different advertising companies in Kansas City. After collecting different advertising packages, I successfully created 5 marketing proposals for my preceptor all within our stated budget.
Q: What was your favorite part of the MSHM program?
A: My favorite part of the MSHM program is the connection I have with my cohort. Since the beginning of the program, my peers have been beyond helpful and welcoming! I have found some of my closest friends in this program. I am so proud of all my peers, and I cannot wait to see all the amazing things they will accomplish!
