Q: What brought you to the MSHM program?
A: I was a recent graduate (May 2021) from O’Neill, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management and Policy. My prior experience included interning as a data analyst at IU Health’s Children’s Therapy Center. In addition, I worked for the American Red Cross | Indiana Region as an intern for their operations department.
Q: What did you enjoy about the MSHM program?
A: Regardless of your background, the program does an excellent job of preparing students for employment within the sector. If you are interested in a healthcare industry role, I highly recommend applying. Lastly, the faculty and staff always ensure that the student’s well-being is always first. They want to see you succeed and will help you go the extra mile to make that happen. Kelley does an excellent job of helping me develop the necessary skills to make sound business decisions within the healthcare landscape. O’Neill’s faculty are well-renowned for their policy expertise; learning directly from them has been an invaluable experience. Accessing both of their alumni networks has opened numerous doors for me in my young professional career. One class that stood out to me was the Career and Discovery and Design course that we took in the summer term. Techniques such as utilizing an Employer MAP and mock interviews thoroughly prepped me for my job search journey. The MSHM program has thoroughly prepared me for my future role. Courses such as Operations Management, Quantitative Analysis, and Healthcare Finance have been beneficial in developing my newly acquired skill set. In addition, I am thankful for the opportunities within the program that has allowed me to collaborate with my peers.
