Name: Gabby Nenedjian
Graduation Year: 2022
Q: Where were you prior to MSHM? (Undergrad major, undergrad university, job?)
Prior to the MSHM program, I majored in Healthcare Management and Policy through the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs in Bloomington. I enjoyed the material and was considering graduate school, so I arranged a meeting with Director Grudi to discuss the program. From that first conversation, I could tell how much time and effort she put into designing the program and knew I wanted to be a part of it.
Q: Where are you at now?
I am currently a Clinic Manager for IU Health Bloomington Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic. I am responsible for the everyday operations of the clinic/ensuring things run smoothly. Some of those logistical tasks include creating team member schedules, running staff meetings, and ordering supplies. In addition, I am accountable for achieving our strategic priorities and outcomes as a practice, collaborating with our provider leadership on improvements, and coaching my team members to achieve excellence.
Q: What are your biggest takeaways from the program?
One of my biggest takeaways from the program is the importance of networking. It is an essential element of finding your future career. One of the ways I networked was through my practicum with Operational Excellence. I worked with not only my preceptor but other directors and leaders around the region for my project. Making a good impression at your practicum can benefit you in your job search, and I encourage all current MSHM students to focus on making professional connections during that experience.
Q: Did you feel connected to your peers (in your cohort)?
My fellow cohort members were my biggest supporters throughout the MSHM program. We planned a lot of group outings that got us connected, such as bowling, going to restaurants, walking on the B-Line trail, and many more. This time with others in my cohort helped to boost my social and emotional wellness, which is a big focus of the program. I couldn’t have gotten through it without my cohort members, and I am still friends with a lot of them today!
