Q: What brought you to IU?
A: I am thrilled to share my experience before and during my time in the MSHM program. Before joining the program, I graduated from Valparaiso University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Biology. While I enjoyed my time working as a Personal Banker at Fifth Third Bank, I always knew that my true calling was to re-enter the healthcare field. After extensive research, I was immediately drawn to the MSHM program and felt that it was the perfect fit for me.
Q: What project(s) are you working on at your practicum site?
A: Since joining the MSHM program, I have had an incredible experience working at IU Health Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Under the guidance of my preceptors, Ryan and Heather, I have been fortunate enough to assist in a variety of projects. One of my current projects involves evaluating In-Patient Rehabilitation Services in the South Central Region. Through this project, I have been able to observe providers, conduct time studies, and provide recommendations on how to improve clinical efficiency. The skills and experiences that I have gained from my preceptors have been truly invaluable.
What is your favorite part of the MSHM program thus far?
A: However, my favorite part of the MSHM program has been building relationships with my peers. It has been an honor to surround myself with other students who share the same goal of becoming transformational leaders in healthcare. The motivation and curiosity that my peers possess have pushed me to become a better version of myself. I am excited to continue building these relationships, as they have proven to be mutually beneficial for all involved.
Overall, I believe that the MSHM program has been an exceptional choice for me. It has allowed me to gain the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary to pursue my true passion for healthcare management. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this program and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
