Q: What are you up to now?
A: I am currently working with Crowe, LLC as a Healthcare Consultant where I work with hospital systems and physician practices and their patient accounting systems, resolving credit balances and delivering bottom line results.
Q: What project(s) did you work on at your practicum site? Where was your practicum?
A: My practicum was with IU Health in their Intech office working on the PAS side. I worked on a variety of projects at my practicum. One project I worked was an analytics based project where I worked to identify denials within the IU Health central region and formulate a conclusion on where those denials were stemming from and how we could work to correct those.
Q: What skills did you use most at your practicum site and/or your work now?
A: I used mostly data analytics skills and it directly translated to my roles in the professional space I am in now.
Q:Did you feel supported by the program faculty and staff?
A: Absolutely, April is amazing and has been there for me multiple times throughout the program, and even post graduation.
Q: What was your favorite part of the MSHM program?
A: My favorite part were the challenging courses and learning more on how to be a leader, not just in the professional setting but also translating those skills to my personal life.
Q: Did you feel connected to your peers?
A: I did feel connected to my peers for the most part. The second semester was tough due to having to go virtual during the COVID pandemic.
Q:What is some advice you have for the next generation of MSHM students?
A:The best advice I could give actually comes from April and that is to play big. There will be times where things seem daunting and scary but if you just remind yourself to “Play big” and take on a challenge with the tools given to you, you will tackle it and come out stronger on the other side.
