Name: Danny Paris
Hometown: Indianapolis
Undergrad Degree: DePauw University
Q: What brought you to the Master of Science in Healthcare Management program?
A: I’m a very passionate and caring person and thought that attaining a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management was a perfect start to my career. The health industry is ever-growing and needs leaders to step up and provide.
Q: What has been your favorite part of the MSHM program?
A: So far, my favorite part of the MSHM program has been the practicum experience. During my practicum, I worked as a marketing and development fellow at Gennesaret Free Clinics. Gennesaret offers free high-quality healthcare to the homeless in Indianapolis. One of the projects I was helping aid and put together was an annual fundraising event. I’m happy to say that I’ve already incorporated many skills I’ve learned in the program. The MSHM program has taught me fundamentals in project management, time management, coaching/feedback, and leading effective meetings. All these skills have been used during my practicum thus far, and I’m inching closer to becoming a professional healthcare leader.
Q: Have you felt supported during your time in the program?
A: Besides the practicum experience, I have met many members of my cohort. Everyone has been nothing but kind and understanding. Everyone is going through a similar path, and connecting with people pursuing similar goals was easy. My goal is to attain a medical device job at the end of the program, and I know that’s possible with hard work and the kind support given by faculty and staff.”
