Q: Where were you prior to MSHM?
I received my Bachelor’s from Indiana University Bloomington, where I studied Biology. Before the MSHM I also worked in an Emergency Department in a direct patient care role.
Q: Where are you at now?
I am an Inpatient Financial Analyst for the Clinical Documentation Improvement team at Claro Healthcare, a Kaufman Hall Company.
Q: Did you attend any GCS events, and did you find them helpful?
I attended many informational 1:1’s throughout recruitment, with many of them being hosted during the Kelley and O’Neil career fairs. Once I was set on a career in consulting, I tried to get as many 1:1s with as many individuals from various firms to learn more about the industry, the organizations, and their daily responsibilities.
Q: Did the curriculum prepare you for your job?
The Kelley School Resources, my data analytics-driven practicum, and the quantitative analysis coursework certainly prepared me well for recruitment season and my current day-to-day.
Q: Did you feel supported by the program faculty and staff?
Compared to my undergraduate career, the MSHM was very different in how closely we worked with Director Grudi and other high-level staff members, I felt supported and motivated my entire time throughout the program.
Q: Did you feel connected to your peers (in your cohort)?
I felt very connected to my cohort members, and have made lifelong friends with the individuals I met in the MSHM
Q: What is some advice you have for the next generation of MSHM students?
I would strongly advise making use of every connection and resource you possibly can throughout your time in the MSHM. Expanding your network in such a way is beyond beneficial to your professional and personal growth.
