December 1 has a lot of meaning for the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program. First, December 1, 2006 was the date of my second interview, the first time I met Doug Lees and Simon Rhodes in the same room at the same time. It was quite an experience in that it felt less like an interview and more like a brainstorming session. By the time I walked out of the conference room I was so excited to potentially get the position (spoiler alert: I did). It’s been rewarding to see those ideas come to life over the last 10 years and it’s been an honor to work with two campus leaders who have been mentors, allies, and champions of LHSI all these years. If you see them, thank them!
Then, six years later on that very same date in 2012, we received notification that our first manuscript about LHSI and student learning was accepted for publication after a few years of hard work and patience. I have that journal issue proudly displayed at home.
Lucky December 1!
