Welcome to the Jacobs School of Music 2021 Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers. Last summer’s Coronavirus kept us from presenting the Retreat but this coming summer we are planning an intensive 8 day online course. The Retreat gives string players and teachers the opportunity to participate in an intensive Jacobs School of Music String Academy Pedagogy Workshop. Each workshop will incorporate the philosophies of Shinichi Suzuki, Paul Rolland, and Mimi Zweig. A few sessions will focus on using the Retreat principles in public school instruction.
We will reserve 30 places for full participation which will include attendance at all lectures, classes, observation of String Academy teaching and student master classes, student concerts, the Retreat Notebook which contains invaluable teaching information, and a combination of 3 hours of either your own individual private lessons, mini master classes, and/or String Academy faculty observing your teaching. Remaining places will be open to auditors whose registrations will include attending all lectures and the Retreat Notebook.
