On Monday, April 10, the IU Department of Mathematics will host “A Celebration of Mathematics and Music.” The evening will feature a lecture titled “Music as a Mathematician’s Playground” by Prof. Julian Hook and poster presentations by three IU students — music theory PhD students David Orvek and Lizhou Wang and Walker Smith, a student in composition/chemistry. There will also be a performance by the Canone Quartet, the Jacobs School of Music’s Kuttner Quartet-In-Residence.
