The Jacobs School of Music is proud to announce the Fight Song Competition!
We’re participating in a friendly competition with the Kelley School of Business to write the best fight song for our respective schools. The winning songwriter from the JSoM will receive a $500 prize, a professional arrangement by IU alumnus and award-winning composer Alex Tedrow, and a performance and recording by the Symphonic Band, directed by Dr. Eric Smedley.
Applications are due December 15th.
APPLY TO THE JSOM FIGHT SONG COMPETITION HERE >
Application Materials:
1. A short bio (150 words maximum)
2. An audio file (.mp3 preferred) of your song. MIDI realizations of written sheet music are acceptable, but we encourage you to perform your song in the recording!
3. PDF Score/sheet music for your song (optional)
4. Written lyrics to your song
Remember: you’re writing a fight song for the Jacobs School of Music, not for Indiana University. Strong entries will have a singable melody and catchy lyrics that exemplify the unique culture of the JSoM. We encourage both trained composers and aspiring songwriters in a variety of genres to apply. Let’s show the Kelley School of Business the incredible creativity of Jacobs students!
