The EGO visited Paoli Jr-Sr High School last weekend to hold a workshop discussing everything from classical music to Jimi Hendrix. An innovative ensemble consisting of eight electric guitars, a bass guitar, and a drum set, the EGO performs a vast array of styles in an effort to relate audiences to more types of music. Sporting black leather jackets and a shiny showcase of electric guitars, the group lead students in an energized performance and discussion. The junior and senior high students also enjoyed opportunities to conduct the EGO and participate in little contests.
“I enjoyed how energetic everyone was and I like the little challenges that they did during the program. I also like how they turned classical music into something that everyone can enjoy.” -Paoli Jr. High School Student
Led by international award winning guitarist and mentor Daniel Duarte, the group was founded earlier this year with the purpose of utilizing the popularity and relatability of the electric guitar to open the minds of school and community audiences, while simultaneously expanding the performance practice of the electric guitar.
The EGO will next travel to Brown County High School on November 18th to interact with the students of Nashville, Indiana.
