“ChamberFest Brown County was born out of love; love for music, love for people and love for nature.”
ChamberFest Brown County is a classical music festival that takes place in Nashville, IN. Nashville has rich artistry embedded into its own culture, and also acts as the ideal location for a convergence of artistic activity from neighboring areas like Bloomington, Columbus, and Indianapolis. The ChamberFest festival provides an exciting platform for classical musicians from these areas to share music and art with the community, and also provides important enrichment to an already extremely diverse set of artistic events that occur in Nashville – the Fingerstyle Guitar Competition, Ukulele Fest, Bean Blossom Blues Fest, and many more!
As stated on the ChamberFest Brown County website, the mission of the event is “to bridge divides in rural Indiana through classical music performance and education of the highest caliber.” Leaders of the festival want both locals and visitors to attend concerts, lectures, and multimedia presentations that can expand their artistic horizons and expose them to new and innovative ideas. This aligns closely with the mission of the JSoM Community Engagement Initiative, where we have also been working in the Nashville community to catalyze artistic activity and build capacity for artistic programming and expression. We are thrilled to be supporting ChamberFest Brown County and cannot wait to see the event unfold in late August of 2021.
ChamberFest is being produced by Riversong Music, Inc., which is an Indiana-based non-profit organization focused on engaging community through classical music and fine arts. Read their mission as articulated on their website:
“We at RiverSong believe that with access to creative and expressive outlets people are capable of profound healing and growth. Musicians and artists of all types can act as guides for audiences to explore their own interior being; by offering great art that engenders passion, empathy and hope, we are convinced that we can have a real and tangible influence in our world for the better.”
ChamberFest Brown County will take place Tuesday, August 17th – Sunday, August 22nd, 2021 utilizing several different venues – the Nashville United Methodist Church, the Brown County Playhouse, the Brown County History Center, and the Brown County High School Auditorium.
