Dr. Gregory Warrell graduated from IUSB with a B.S. in Physics in 2010. Subsequently, he earned Ph.D. in Physics with a Concentration in Medical Physics from the University of Toledo, in 2016, along with a Residency in Medical Physics at Case Western Reserve University / University Hospitals Cleveland.
Since 2016 he’s held the position of Therapeutic Medical Physics Chief Resident at University Hospitals in Cleveland, OH. In his role as a medical physicist, he’s responsible for ensuring the safety and efficacy of radiation therapy, by working with software and physics-based models describing the interactions of photon beams, particle beams, and radioactive sources with tissue, as well as by experimentally verifying the beam and source characteristics of clinical therapy units. He also works to shepherd the process of treatment planning and delivery to assure consistent treatment quality.
Several Warrells have been students at IU South Bend, most recently Daniel Warrell who completed a ’22 B.A. in History along with a minor in physics. It was very fun to see Greg at commencement for his brother’s graduation and to get a photo of Drs. Warrell and Hinnefeld!
