Subsequent to earning a B.S. in physics in 1999, Shelly Lesher went to the University of Kentucky where she completed a Ph.D., also in physics, in 2005.
Dr. Lesher worked with Prof. Hinnefeld while at IUSB and has become an accomplished nuclear physicist herself: she is now a professor at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, where she also serves as department chairperson and Director of the Univ. of Wisconsin La Crosse Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Program. Not surprisingly, Dr. Lesher now provides close research mentorship for her own students.
Please view Dr. Lesher’s Profile Page at UWL for a synopsis of her research and teaching interests, including recent publications, and an impressive summary of her many appointments and awards (e.g., she was was elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2020!).
