Wow! The Physics Club really turned out an impressive crowd for today’s party. I suspect many were involved in pulling this off, but I wanted to give a special thanks to President Cody Cripe and club Treasurer Jöel Rael. I didn’t get an exact count, but from photos there were at least 25 in attendance. And, we had a special visit from ’15 alum Jonathan Wells; I’m not going to write more about him here because he agreed to let me make an Alum Update about him soon.
Club T-shirts were revealed, and club officers will be sending out information in order to collect orders, soon — it’s a great design!
In addition to pizza, we had a cake to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sigma Pi Sigma (ΣΠΣ), the physics honorary society into which induct a handful of students most years. (Thanks again to the club leadership for making arrangements for the perfectly decorated cake.) We also had a box of ΣΠΣ swag including drink cozies, yo-yos, playing cards, balloons, pens, and even a serving knife, thanks to Cody taking the initiative to respond to an offer from the national ΣΠΣ organization to provide it order to commemorate the occasion.
