The IU South Bend Departments of Biological Sciences and Physics & Astronomy will host a public presentation by Prof. Beverly Saylor of Case Western Reserve, the lead author of a recent study about early hominid fossils that has been featured in National Geographic among other popular media outlets. The talk will be open to the public and all are welcome!

Title: Human Ancestor Fossils in Ethiopia, Including the Face of Australopithecus anamensis
Synopsis: Recently discovered hominid fossils showed that Australopithecus anamensis may have proceeded and overlapped with Lucy, one of the earliest human ancestors. Dr. Beverly Z. Saylor from Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Case Western Reserve University led a team in the dating of the fossils and the reconstruction of the environment where this new species lived.
