The Sports Innovation Institute partnered with Zooom Productions to develop a prototype for an interactive sports video game experience focused on training sports officials.
Luddy School of Informatics senior student Robert Burita developed a working prototype using the Unity development platform and Xbox Kinect to create an immersive and interactive point-of-view video experience for sports officiating training.
Leaning into research from Dr. Pierce’s senior capstone class in the Fall 2019 semester, Robert’s senior capstone class in the Luddy School of Informatics taught by Zeb Wood developed an initial concept for development.
Robert continued working on the project in the Summer 2020 semester which resulted in the distribution of initial beta units for Zooom Productions and led to SII graduate assistant Kevin Feller publishing this peer-reviewed paper from his thesis: https://www.johpl.org/index.php/johpl/article/view/15
