Apple Office Hours – May 14 & 15

IT colleagues: 

Apple invites you to attend an Office Hour session on Wednesday, May 14, at 2pm ET or Thursday, May 15, at 12pm ET. 

Both sessions will cover identical material and are accessible to all higher education clients. These sessions are not exclusive to Indiana University.    

This month’s sessions will prepare attendees for this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, scheduled from June 9-13. Additionally, Apple engineers will deep dive into their AppleSeed for IT beta program, which provides an advanced path to supporting new operating systems. There will also be demonstrations showcasing Apple Intelligence. 

After the session, Apple engineers will be available to answer questions about any Apple-related topic.

Reminder – Text to Speech @ IU – May 8

Please join us this Thursday, May 8, at 2pm ET for an infoshare presented by John Ault of the UITS Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers. He will provide an overview and demonstration of text-to-speech technology available at Indiana University. If you are interested in learning about what tools are available to have text read aloud when using Canvas, surfing the web with Microsoft Edge, working in applications such as Adobe, Word, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, or when accessing ePubs and eBooks, then this session is for you.

Update to University Email Communications – April 28

Update to University Email Communications – April 28 

IT colleagues: 

The Enterprise CRM team, in coordination with University Communications and Marketing, will update all From email addresses in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to the iu.edu domain on Monday, April 28. 

Previously, many From email addresses used the e.iu.edu domain due to a technical constraint with the Salesforce Marketing Cloud implementation. The e.iu.edu domain was required to provide authentication on emails to ensure they were delivered to a recipient’s inbox, and not spam. 

The iu.edu domain is now able to provide this authentication, so it will be used in From email addresses for all email sent out of Salesforce Marketing Cloud going forward. 

Example: 

Previous From email address: iutoday@e.iu.edu 

New From email address: iutoday@iu.edu 

Recipients of university email communications may notice this change in the “From” field of their email client. If recipients had set up inbox rules that filtered based on the From email address, those may need to be updated. 

The Indiana University community was notified of this change via the UITS Monitor on Wednesday, April 23.

  • Instructure Maintenance – April 19
    • Saturday April 19, between 8am and 12pm ET, Instructure (Canvas) will be performing a regularly scheduled monthly release in the IU Canvas instance. There is no downtime expected for this maintenance.
  • There will be no ITCP Weekly Update next week, April 25, due to the Statewide IT Conference.

The Statewide IT Conference is IU’s annual gathering of its tech staff members and IT thought leaders from all nine campuses. More than 800 gather every year to exchange information about the latest in technology, university initiatives, and developments in the field. Attendees hear from IT leaders during the opening keynotes, learn from a variety of breakout sessions and topic tables, and network with colleagues at social events.

Instructure Maintenance – April 19

Saturday April 19, between 8am and 12pm ET, Instructure (Canvas) will be performing a regularly scheduled monthly release in the IU Canvas instance.  There is no downtime expected for this maintenance.

Apple Office Hours – April 16 & 17

IT colleagues:

Apple invites you to attend an Office Hour session on either Wednesday, April 16 at 2pm ET or Thursday, April 17 at 12pm ET. 

The sessions will cover the same material and are being made available to all higher education clients; these are not exclusive to IU.    

This month’s sessions will give an overview of the latest capabilities of Parallels surrounding VM deployment, license management, app compatibility, and performance. Parallels and Windows are now fully supported by each other on Apple Silicon processors. You may even be able to use Mobile Device Management to push self-contained Windows apps to your Macs. 

The session will focus on Parallels for the first hour, and the Apple engineers will stick around after that to answer questions about any Apple-related topic.

Kaltura Recording: Infoshare – Fusion @IU – April 3

The recording of the infoshare by Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers, originally presented on April 3, 2025, is now live. John Ault provided an overview and demonstration of the software program Fusion available at IU. Fusion is an assistive technology program for individuals with vision impairments.

Note: There were technical difficulties during this presentation from sharing John’s screen while trying to demonstrate the app. The app worked in offline testing.
