Come and join us for a remote screening of Serge Aillery’s Narcisse Pelletier: Naufragé Aborigène. The screening will take place on Thursday, April 7th from 1 to 2:15pm. The documentary is in French with English subtitles.
Narcisse Pelletier was a fourteen-year-old cabin boy aboard the Saint Paul when it struck a reef off Rossel Island in 1858. He was later adopted by an Aboriginal family after his French crew abandoned him in Queensland (Cape York Peninsula, Australia). Pelletier was “saved” (abducted) by a British crew seventeen years later. This documentary retraces his life and discusses the cultural contexts he experienced.
Serge Aillery will join us on April 14th to answer your questions about his documentary.
