Please join us for another great Pop-Up University Lecture on Thursday, February 17! Dr. Darryl Heller, Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and Director of the Civil Rights Heritage Center, will be presenting “Critical Race History: Making Sense of the Present.”
This conversation will raise questions and explore the implications of a historical narrative that shifts the lens from one of American exceptionalism to one in which the language and meaning of our collective identity is informed by a critical and historical understanding of how race shapes our present. Participants will be invited to reimagine how social relations and policy decisions would be affected by a pedagogy that explicitly acknowledges white supremacy as the dominant ideology of the nation’s founding and how that knowledge could open new avenues for social transformation towards an inclusive and equitable society in our present and future.
Register for this virtual event by February 15: https://go.iu.edu/4bZg. Registrants will receive the Zoom link for the lecture via email the week of the event.
