The Honors Program reminds you that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)
DID YOU KNOW over half of women murdered in the United States are killed by their intimate partners?
Domestic Violence can lead to injuries that are apparent or invisible; scars may last a lifetime. Already this year, Indiana has seen witnessed at least 45 domestic-violence related deaths.
Each October, IU South Bend recognizes the impacts of this social problem by educating our community, sharing the voices of survivors, and raising awareness. You can join the Honors Program in marking this month!
Visit the Clothesline Project in front of DW, which displays t-shirts with messages for and by survivors of domestic violence.
Join the Honors Program on Oct. 28 for a one-hour walk, commemoration and resource-sharing activity. Meet at 4pm in the Grill for a warm beverage before students lead us on a short, mindful walk around campus where we will learn about stalking, red flags and warning signs. We’ll hear from community partners at the Family Justice Center and the YWCA about resources available.
