Two quick tips to help you avoid issues from MS Teams during your classroom presentations:
- Before heading to teach your class, click on your avatar, or initials, toward the upper right corner of the desktop or web Microsoft (MS) Teams client. Clicking on your status (Available, Busy, etc.) will invoke a drop-down list of status, as well as duration and reset. Set your status to “Do Not Disturb,” and then set a duration that will cover your time in the class. By doing this, your status will automatically revert to follow your calendar and activities. More importantly, you won’t get notifications of messages or phone calls in the middle of your slide show.
- Consider NOT starting your PowerPoint presentation straight from the MS Teams app. The software may decide to restart/update/flake out right in the middle of your class. Instead, choose to “open the file in Browser” or “open the file in Desktop” and start the slide show as you normally do.
