Tuesday Teams Tech Tip – How to tell if the data you are storing is institutional data
Microsoft Teams can be used for storing and managing institutional data. So how do you tell if the data you are storing is institutional data?
A simple test that will help you recognize institutional data is to ask yourself the following question: “If I leave IU, will the data I am storing be valuable to others?” For example, is the data needed for compliance (e.g. accreditation)? Is it valuable to your department? Is the data part of an ongoing committee that changes membership? On the other hand, if the data you are storing is only valuable to you, then it is probably not institutional data.
Once you have identified data as being institutional data, then you need to create the storage for it in a special way in Teams. How to do that will be covered in a future Tuesday Teams Tech Tip.
We hope you find this tip helpful.
