Lunchtime Cinema series
Feb 13 – John Lewis: Get the Way, shown in the Grill Fireside Rooms, 11:30 – 12:30
A gripping documentary of a man whose fight for social justice employed the radical tactic of nonviolent direct action. He was the son of sharecroppers in the Jim Crow South, and made choices early in his life that propelled him to a vital role in U.S. history. In 1963, he became the youngest speaker at the historic March on Washington. Two years later, he led the Bloody Sunday March in Selma. His subsequent career as a congressman solidified his stature as a strategically agile activist making noise on the inside.
