Join the IU South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center along with Indiana Humanities and the Brain Lair Bookstore as we welcome celebrated Hoosier author Kekla Magoon to IU South Bend’s Louise E. Addicott and Yatish J. Joshi Performance Hall.
A native of Fort Wayne, Kekla Magoon has written several books, including The Season of Styx Malone, The Rock and the River and Revolution in Our Time: The Black Panther Party’s Promise to the People. She has been honored with the Margaret A. Edwards Award, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, the John Steptoe New Talent Award, four Coretta Scott King Book Awards, the Walter Dean Myers Award, an NAACP Image Award and has been a finalist for the National Book Award.
The Brain Lair’s Kathy Burnette leads a conversation with Ms. Magoon about her experiences as an Indiana author, and her work with schools and libraries worldwide.
