One of the pillars of the Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant is to increase career learning opportunities for students. The grant will fund a new Office of Professional Engagement (OPE). The office will coordinate with Career Services and the Office of Community Engagement to track, sustain and increase internship partnerships; provide internship preparation and support to students; and work with UCET to support faculty to embed career learning in classes.
I am pleased to announce that Erinn Kelley has been appointed to serve as Director of the OPE. Erinn is a senior lecturer in English and has served as both Assistant Director of First-Year Writing and Director of the Professional Writing Program. Prior to joining IU South Bend, she worked as an Environmental Research Analyst for HydroGeoLogic , a Project Manager for Alt & Witzig Engineering, and an Independent Research Consultant for clients including the Arizona Attorney General’s Office and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Please join me in congratulating Erinn on her new position.
