What: A Free Public Presentation on What Voters Need to Know Before They Head to the Polling Place

Why: To prepare for the 2024 election, get YOUR questions answered, network with other civic-minded community members and learn more about the work of the American Democracy Project at IU South Bend
Who: This event is FREE and open to the public. We invite YOU and your family, friends, and neighbors to attend. This talk will be useful for ALL Indiana voters, but specific examples will drawn from St. Joseph County.
Presenters include: Dr. Elizabeth Bennion (Chancellor’s Professor of Political Science and Director of Community Engagement – and the American Democracy Project – at IU South Bend) and several of her ADP interns including David Saleh, Jarrett Taft, Caleb Rice, and Liz Howard. The speakers will be drawing upon the work of fellow intern James Schultz who is co-coordinator of the Vote411 online voter guide for St. Joseph County.
Topic include: When, where and how to cast your ballot. What to bring with you to the polls. What’s on your ballot: local, state, and federal races. Partisan vs. non-partisan races. What a “straight ticket” vote does — and does not — mean. What do do if you change your address or lost your ID before Election Day.
Public questions on the ballot. Judicial retention elections. How to find out MORE about the candidates on your ballot. Resources the ADP has developed with community and media partners to help YOU get to know the candidates on your ballot before casting your vote.
