Orientation Leaders Needed!
We are looking to hire a core group of student leaders to help bring the energy and excitement at New Student Orientation as we welcome our incoming class!
As an orientation leader, you would have the opportunity to interact with our incoming students by assisting with the following:
- Check-In: Help sign-in students, provide directions, pass out giveaway items, and help answer any initial questions.
- Student Presentations: Help facilitate a mini-orientation where students get a snapshot of the support services on campus.
- Registration: Advisors will help students select their classes and you will show them how to add to their shopping cart and finalize registration.
- Parent Session Panel: Participate in a student panel during the parent info session, which runs concurrently while students are registering for classes.
- Campus Tours: An option at the conclusion of orientation, so you would put on your tour guide hat and walk students around campus.
Don’t feel familiar enough with campus services to do presentations or to conduct tours? No worries, we will provide the script and all training. We just need you to be enthusiastic about IU South Bend and ready to welcome our new students. . . we will help with the rest!
Orientation is typically one day a week, beginning in late March and running throughout the summer. Orientation programs are either 8:00a – 12:00p or 12:00p – 4:00p (with one evening session from 4:00p – 8:00p and one Saturday morning). End times may vary depending on how long it takes students to register for classes and if a campus tour is conducted.
This would be a paid position (and the opportunity for a reduced cost to stay in River Crossing Housing during the summer months). If you are interested, please reach out to Rick Dennie, Interim Director, Titan Success Center, at rdennie@iusb.edu or (574) 520-4164.
