Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 7 at a Party with a Purpose. Come together to help young women in Malawi stay in school. Due to a lack of access to menstrual products, many young women fall behind in their studies and eventually drop out of school. Join the campus and broader community to make reusable pads for them. Stop by throughout the day, as your schedule allows, to cut fabric, and assemble the pads. Donations of old flannel sheets, terry cloth (old towels), or waterproof materials are also welcome and can be dropped off during the event.
Donations of pads and tampons for local women facing period poverty are also being collected. A donation box is available in the Honors Lounge in front of office 163. You may also email honprog@iusb.edu to arrange for a pick-up.
If possible, please bring your own scissors to the party! Other materials as well as refreshments will be provided.
