The Office of Academic Affairs is seeking an interim Director of the First Year Experience Program for Spring 2024 as a sabbatical replacement. The position begins January 2024 and ends on May 31st, 2024.
Responsibilities for Spring 2024:
Supervise and provide support for the FYS peer mentor team, which includes meeting with them individually during the semester (at least two formal meetings) and managing timecards in the KUALI system.
Provide support to faculty teaching in FYS and GPA which includes:
Peer review of FYS and GPA class sections;
Communication to faculty about opportunities for campus engagement and other related opportunities for engagement; manage the FYS canvas site; monitor use of SER reporting; approve expenditures for FYS enrichment activities;
Serving as a general resource for FYS/GPA questions.
Assessment data collection
The position also entails planning for Fall 2024:
Recruit faculty to teach in FYS and GPA
Recruit peer mentors for FYS and GPA
Schedule FYS and GPA classes based on predicted enrollment needs, working with associate deans and the AVCAA for Enrollment Management
Ensure that the Fall 2024 schedule for FYS and GPA courses are accurate and that relevant information is listed on the schedule of classes
The interim director is expected to attend meetings of the Academic Cabinet (monthly), Deans and Directors (once) , and serve as ex oficio on the General Education Committee(monthly).
The interim Director will have one course release for Spring 2024. The Director reports to the interim AVCAA Linda Chen.
