The Senate Teaching Committee invites you to a session to provide feedback about the new standards for course evaluations. In December the Board of Trustees approved new rules for the use of numeric course evaluations:
“Because numerical summaries in student course evaluations may reflect cultural biases, and low participation rates may skew results, numerical ratings should not be used as the primary source of data for evaluating teaching. Each campus and unit faculty governance organization shall have a policy for evaluating teaching that provides for qualitative student feedback and other sources of information.”
A UFC task force made several recommendations for what the other sources of information could be. Come discuss the possibilities, and let us know what you think would work for our campus. February 23, 4:00 – 5:00 pm in EA 1025.
