We unveil a compelling new art exhibition that asks us to observe how nature organizes and influences us.
“Contemplation and Movement” brings out some of the beautiful, quiet tales that have been told in the Great Lakes by Jason’s tribal ancestors. Familiar and personal, yet they hold a universal perspective that inspires Jason to re-interpret these stories into his work and bring them to a global audience.
Jason’s compelling works are informed by the land and relate stories that are rooted in place and the acknowledgment of spirit. A member of the Potawatomi (Turtle Clan), Jason balances being a maker with working in his tribal community as a Peacemaker, sustaining cultural ceremonies, and sharing traditional knowledge across the Great Lakes. His works are part of the permanent collections of his work is in the permanent collections of the Eiteljorg Museum (IN), Grand Valley State University (MI), and the Newberry Library (Chicago, IL).
This in-person only event begins at 6 pm with a chance to view the exhibition and speak with the artist. Light refreshments will be available.
This activity was made possible, in part, with support from the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County.
