LIVE TELEVISED CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE DEBATE SET FOR OCTOBER 4th:
Candidates are vying for Jackie Walorski’s (vacant) seat representing Indiana’s second congressional district.
South Bend – Two candidates will participate in a congressional candidate debate airing live on ABC57, WNDU, WSBT, WNIT, and WVPE public radio from 7-8 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. The debate will feature Democratic candidate Paul Steury and Libertarian candidate William Henry. Republican candidate Rudy Yakym declined the invitation to debate.
The debate is sponsored by the District 2 Debate Commission consisting of the American Democracy Project of IU South Bend, the LaPorte Economic Advancement Project, and local League of Women Voters chapters in Elkhart, LaPorte, and the South Bend area, along with media partners ABC57, WNDU, WSBT, WNIT, and WVPE.
Questions for the debate were developed by the coalition in consultation with members of their organizations and voters in their communities.
The debate will be co-moderated by ABC57 anchor Brian Conybeare, WNDU anchor Terry McFadden, and WSBT anchor John Paul. Participating media outlets are airing the debate over-the-air, as a livestream on their websites, and on their Facebook pages.
Voters who are unable to view the debate live can access the debate on media partners’ websites before Election Day on November 8, 2022.
