Join us for FREE PIZZA, a thought-provoking film, and informal discussion. ALL are welcome.
Tuesday, September 20th/Thursday September 22nd – Pizza & Politics: A Screening of the Critically Acclaimed Film “13th” (1:00 – 2:15 PM, SAC Room 223)
In SAC room 223, ADP will be hosting a screening of the documentary film 13th. With powerful music and real talk, this film explores the intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the U.S.A., shedding light on a clause in the 13th amendment that limits people’s rights by criminalizing common non-violent behaviors. This event is open to students and faculty interested in watching the film in two parts while eating free pizza and engaging in discussion following the film.
What does LIBERTY mean in the nation with the world’s highest prison/incarceration rate? Are the promises of the U.S. Constitution being fulfilled? How can we do better in protecting human rights, civil liberties, and public safety?
Part 1: Tuesday; Part 2: Thursday — You are welcome to attend ONE SESSION even if you cannot attend both.
