Join faculty, students, staff, alumni, and community members on Friday, April 22, for IU South Bend’s fifth annual Earth Day Celebration and Service Day. Two shifts will be offered to those who would like to join us: one from 10 am – 1 pm and another from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm. Volunteers will join hands to improve our local ecosystem by working on the following projects:
-
- Removal of invasive species from Veterans Memorial Park
- Removal of invasive species from the IU South Bend wetlands & digging up iris rhizomes to clean them for subsequent planting at La Casa de Amistad
- A poetry reading on campus and possible tree planting
- Preparing the Student Gardens at River Crossing Campus Housing
The Earth Day Celebration and Service Day is a collaboration of the Honors Program, the Department of Biological Sciences, the Center for a Sustainable Future, and South Bend Venues Parks & Arts.
